Partnership & Trust

At Howie & Smith, we provide an honest and in-depth evaluation of your legal issues, comprehensive work on your behalf, and a personal commitment to our clients who rightfully seek legal assurance and closure. We have a proven track record handling the most complex matters, often involving shifting fact patterns and wide array of legal theories, with competence and personal touch. Given the arduous, complicated, and costly nature of the civil litigation process, we are committed to work with our clients in partnership toward a unified vision and the best possible resolution.

Our practice includes trial and appellate advocacy, client counseling, and transactional services. The firm and its lawyers hold active memberships with the California Bar Association and local bar associations, Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute and the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce.

Community Service

The firm is a longtime and active supporter of local public television and radio. Mr. Howie is a charter member of the community Board of Directors for the Interfaith Hospitality Network of San Mateo County and Executive Director of the congregation effort. This ecumenical organization works to provide shelter for the homeless using spaces at local parish halls and synagogues.
